Rooms certainly are tiny, but they have enough room, though a bit hard to eat a meal in the room. Very clean and well designed for the most part. If you stay for more than a few days maybe something bigger, but a light packer or two should be fine for a week. Staff were friendly and helpful for an early check in.
A beautiful hotel with friendly staff, inviting atmosphere and a very nice complimentary breakfast. I would definitely recommend using this hotel if you wish to visit any of the museums in the area, as it is only a short walk away. The room itself was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. I only stayed for a single night, but could see myself easily staying longer. There was a nice view from my room, and even a small balcony, this hotel does have a weird thing about mirrors being everywhere though, so if you don’t like seeing you’re reflection this is one to avoid.
As others have mentioned before, the location is very convenient for traveling around zones 1 and 2 and visiting the main places of interest, as well as for traveling to Luton in the middle of the night on Saturday, which was important to us. There are a lot of cafes, pubs and restaurants in the area. We stayed there for 5 nights with two kids, and only used the room to sleep. The reason why there are such controversial reviews is that some of the rooms have been renovated, while the rest haven't. We stayed in the Deluxe Family for 5, and this type of rooms is renovated (don't expect anything wow, just repainted walls, new carpet and curtains, and maybe a new shower). It's best to call up the hotel and inform yourselves upfront what type of room you'll be getting before you make the reservation. The staff was nice and welcoming. Check in and out are possible at any time.
Location is excellent. Rooms are clean, service is good. Found this hotel whilst browsing for a London trip, certainly will stay again. Highly recommend.
Absolutely breath of fresh air staying at Lexham Gardens Cheval …. The staff were extremely accommodating helpful & went out of their way above & beyond which we are truly grateful. It was a very pleasant stay, it met my expectations for a 3 star hotel, you get exactly what you pay for and the place is very well maintained. Rooms are clean and the bed is very comfortable, bathroom was on the small side but perfect for its purpose.
We stayed 2 nights, overall acceptable, just the shower door and hot water really can not make it. Thanks for the receptionist lady to allow us to check out late a bit due to not feeling well.
This hotel is an excellent value considering the location. The front staff are very nice, and we were allowed to check in early after arriving in the morning from a transatlantic flight. Being able to shower and leave our bags before embarking on our day out to fight jet lag was invaluable. The breakfast is quite solid and was enjoyed by all. Of course, the hotel is rather small (what can one expect in London?) but the ensuite bathroom was clean and serviceable and the fact that they offer a family room with a double and three singles was very important for us. We would stay here again as an easy, affordable, and quite serviceable jumping off point for exploring Kensington and greater London.
